Our Wines

Markland Cottage Winery produces high quality, premium berry wines and spirits (liquers, schnapps, brandies and vodka), hand crafted with care. Although we produce a variety of berry wines, our flagship wine is wild blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium). These low bush berries are wild and grow in a pesticide and pollution free environment. We were the first established winery in Newfoundland and Labrador and have the only commercial operating distillery in the province. Our facilities are state of the art, embedded in our historical property. Our water is drawn from an artisan well is second to none in quality and purity, triple filtered and purified.

We are committed to standards of quality by maintaining ISO certification and following best management practices. In addition, our facilities are kosher-certified and our products are created using minimal processing and have no added sulphites.

Our Process

We have developed our wine making process over the years with attention to quality, added value and innovation. We incorporate a few extra steps in our process that we feel are worth the extra time and effort to honour the berry and allow their true flavours to shine. We use only the best quality berries, many of them growing wild, pesticide and chemical-free in our beautiful province. The water used in our wine making is drawn from our own artisan well and has been tested for purity. Its quality is second to none. Our wines start with a fresh fruit flavour when young and can be aged into a wine with a more complex flavour - if they manage to stay on a shelf that long. Our process adds no artificial colours, flavours or sulphites.

We are proud to have Kosher Certification reflecting our commitment quality preparation. In addition to those who purchase kosher products for religious reasons, the majority of consumers are doing so because they are health conscious. Kosher certification carries the perception of a "Good Housekeeping seal of approval" because of the strict laws governing production facilities and the stringent requirements attached to all components used in the processing of a consumable product.

Our Liqueurs

The Krol family recipe for fruit (berry) liqueurs has been passed down from generation to generation. What started off as a simple hobby turned into a lifelong passion. Each liqueur is made from handpicked naturally grown, wild berries which are chemical and pesticide-free straight from our luscious fields. Each and every liqueur is crafted to perfection blending the natural flavours and aromas of the berries leaving your sense craving more.
